I want to live by the sea
where time will always be slower
the only promise that is ever kept
is that things will begin and
things will end and I will
hear you on the mountains
reverberating across the shore
there are plants that grow
in the sand dunes
and we love the rabbits
although they are pests
and our music is clearest in the
morning
before
too many things have split in two
and even though the pine trees are dying
and leaving their grey rings stamped
on the hills I think they’d let
us perch on their stump and
peel off pieces of their dying bark to
smell the sweetness
of their sap pretend
they were never
ending.
