Ancestral is a piece that was inspired by my visit to the Louvre. It made me contemplate on my relationship with all of my ancestors, if they’d actually appreciate my work or if they’d look down on me with contempt, considering the general sensibilities of what is considered acceptable for Malays, and if that acceptance even matter.
Discern is a self-portrait exploring my comfort in leaning into nature and using its elements to converse and tell stories without needing to explain myself too much.
