Pile of Craft Stuff I Haven’t Put Away
Kia ora,
I love your design, the almost abstract angles,
the stark stalks of legs,
the splash of kōwhai colour.
But you knew that when I exclaimed over you
when we first met.
When I touch you, I run my fingertips over threads and I think:
What if I could design like that, draw like that, make shapes and symbols into speeches?
What if I could convey so much, say so much, with so little?
I know that maybe I could if I practised, and there’s the rub.
“What ifs” are easy, but hard work and dedication
take hard work
and dedication.
Maybe I’m reading too much into it? Maybe birds and flowers are just pretty? (Maybe I’m a disappointment to myself.)
What if you were more than ink and fabric. What if we both just open our mouths and sing.
It could be worth a shot.
Sincerely, Ry.
