Everywhere I go I leave little piles of sand

That was the summer we all got sick
gutters flooded with wattle and pine

I lived in constant readiness to see a sea lion
straining to sight the waves from my deck
stayed up too late sucking the heat from the walls
thank god
you can look at the moon without being blinded

I remember the Garden of Eden
and life pitched forward
prismed like glass
breaking in the sunlight

Let my brain slide over the complications
smooth and congested

There’s something about growing up
in the middle of the ocean
that makes you a little detached

All I wanna talk about is that clip of The Pussycat Dolls where Melody tries to sing over Nicole
Fifth Harmony never dressing for the same event
back-flipping Fergie on an outdoor stage
Stevie Nicks singing Silver Spring to Lindsey Buckingham in 1997

When the blood comes it’s old and brown and makes me anxious
